Frontline Legal Support Summer Student Program
Note: This program has already been completed. Please see a report of the work we completed as part of the Frontline Legal Support initiative. The text below is the job posting that was circulated in Canadian law schools as part of the initiative.
We are looking for first and second year law students to assist with the Frontline Legal Support initiative on a volunteer basis. This position is for the summer of 2020, and selected students are expected to commence work as soon as possible. Selected students will solely be assisting the firm with the Frontline Legal Support initiative and can expect to assist with frontline worker intake and the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney. In light of the spread of Covid-19, selected students should expect to complete all required work remotely on Lexpand’s virtual Wills & Estates platform. While the completion of any Wills and Estates courses is an asset, it is not required.
Duration: This position is for the summer of 2020. Ideally, the start date will be as soon as possible.
Salary: This is a volunteer position. However, we will provide selected students with letters of reference and any documentation required for the Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG). The CSSG will provide up to $5,000.00 for education costs to students who serve their community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since this program was only recently announced, few details are available. Please check www.canada.com for further information and updates.
